- Barry H Mansfield

Join me in my world of poetic thought, together we can change the world

What magic in the darkness among treasures in ones mind
What fortunes, what blessings can one find? Of
The power enlightenment that here too in do dwell
Can we find our true fulfillment and escape this earthbound hell.

Who am I?

My name is Barry Mansfield. I developed this website for two reasons:

(1) I Feel it is necessary and beneficial for each soul born to this earth to give back in at least some small manner to help move forward the development of all those whom they share this planet with. My poems and the ideas they represent are my attempt at fulfilling this obligation.

(2) Throughout my life, I have struggled with an extreme dyslexic problem. Writing has been the vehicle to assist in overcoming this problem in the form of my ability to write poetry. I feel my poetry has developed into a philosophy that I am rather proud of.  Through this website I would like to share my thoughts with as many souls as would care to have me share my ideas with them.

What is the purpose of poetry?

I first started writing my poetry simply to be able to write but it quickly developed into much more than Just writing. I found myself expressing my emotions and my beliefs about the world around me. This led to the desired to share these newfound understanding with the people who were close to me. I kept seeking those who were interested in my work and thoughts; after opening myself up to feedback, I found that there were many people who were interested in what I had to say in my poetry. This brings me here and it is my fondest hope that you will enjoy and even possibly discover something from what I have to offer.

“The purpose of poetry is to send readers a variety of moods and messages. Therefore, enlightening society with what the poet believes should be known by all. Poetry always sends a message. At times the message is easy to understand, at other times the message is quite the opposite. Poems bear spiritual sustenance and empathy.” From: Andross Moonah’s Poetry Anthology (1998)

Why should anybody care about poetry?

Poetry is important because it to allows people to feel emotions or elevate moods or even gain a greater understanding of themselves simply by conveying a message that relates to them through the clever orchestration of words through meaning, sound, and position.

Good poetry can make you happy or sad, angry or mad but is guaranteed to touch your soul.  Poetry, like all art enriches you if you are willing to investigate it by the very nature of its existence in  the same manner as a painting, sculpture or any other work of art.
